Guys! My first styled shoot was certainly one for the books. I was so thrilled that Jillian of Jillian Barrile Photography asked me to help her organize this shoot. If you don't know what a styled shoot is, allow me to explain. Styled shoots are used frequently in the wedding industry as a way for vendors to showcase their talents, products, and services. The photos are then used as marketing materials. Basically, the vendors work together to plan a "fake" wedding as a way to show off everyone's work. Don't think they're any less work because they're fake! Jill and I were planning this together since October and did not shoot it until late March. It truly was a labor of love
Jill approached me with the concept of an antique circus. Something moody and dark. Basically, the complete contrast to the light airy weddings that are having a moment now (not that there is anything wrong with those). You can be the judge but... I think we nailed it.
We had the distinct pleasure of being able to shoot in the brand new Shea's Seneca in South Buffalo. It is such a regal and elegant building that fit our theme perfectly. The red velvet accents, mirror, and black and white tiles made the perfect backdrop to all of the wonderful added accessories. The space is so versatile too! Look at all the wonderful nooks all under one roof.
I was beyond thrilled that Rebecca from Quaint rentals was down when we asked her to do this shoot. She was so professional and her team made the set up and tear down a breeze. The couch, chair and table really added to the overall look.
I just about passed out from the beauty of the bouquet April made for this shoot. I mean look at this. Every time I got to hold it while they were adjusting the models it took all my will power to give it back. April really just ran with our vision and knocked it out of the park. Not to mention the riding crop. What possessed April to put florals on a riding crop I will never know... but it is the best thing ever.
Jess and Jess worked together to build masterful hair and makeup looks that really took everything to the next level. The artistry these two beautiful women wield from their brushes is insane. Truth be told Jill and I did not have a very specific visions for neither hair nor makeup but that was not the slightest bit of a problem for these ladies.
Since we are talking about the looks. I have to mention Bridal Chateau. Beth was so kind to allow us to use two dresses for this shoot because we just could not decide. Then once we were jumping up and down with excitement at the gowns we had picked she took it to the next level. Every time she made a gorgeous dress even better with the perfect necklace, cape, or head piece. Fun fact: the jeweled sleeves were not a part of the big ballgown. They were another one of Beth's amazing additions.
Finally, we made sure we gave this wedding the unique and thoughtful touches every wedding deserves. Candie from Rock Candie Designs hooked us up with most perfect escort cards, table numbers, and invitations suites. All of that was complimented elegantly with signage from Coffee & Bliss Studio.
Then the icing on the whole evening was the beautiful cake from KupKates, which we promptly enjoyed after our long days work.
A big big big thank you to everyone who participated in this amazing experience. Your creativity, time, and talents truly made the most beautiful event. I am so glad I got to work with each and everyone of you. Special thank you to Molly and Drew (our models) for letting us dress you up and take up your whole afternoons. Jill, thank you for letting me help you with your crazy and beautiful ideas.
